Finally, a journalist actually reads Bill 115 and understands the unconstitutionality! Joe Public, please read this! http://t.co/vmJcrfzw
- Among the Draconian if little-known provisions of the bill is one found in Section 14, which specifically prohibits the labour board from even considering the constitutionality of the bill
- The bill has stripped the labour board of its authority to consider whether the legislation violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (and the human rights code)
- The government could have cancelled its all-day kindergarten plans, as it was advised to do by its hand-picked expert, and saved enough money that perhaps it could have avoided the squeeze it put on its teachers.
- By the time the real question gets to the courts, Bill 115 may well be found to be unconstitutional and badly flawed, as even the government has indirectly acknowledged, with Education Minister Laurel Broten pledging to repeal the bill the very day she used it to force a contract upon the ETFO.
